BuildSorted is a document preparation and guidance tool for UK tradespeople, landlords and letting agents, operated under the trading name BuildSorted by Mark Sepple.

What Data We Collect and Why
Account information
When you register for BuildSorted, we collect your name, email address and (if provided) your business name, contact telephone number, bank details, logo and review link. This information is stored securely on our servers and is used to operate your account and personalise the documents BuildSorted generates for you.
Document generation data
When you use BuildSorted to generate documents, you provide information about your customers, tenants and jobs — such as names, addresses, job descriptions and amounts. This information is sent to Anthropic PBC (the provider of the Claude AI model) solely for the purpose of generating your document. It is not stored by BuildSorted after your document is generated. Anthropic processes this data as a data processor on our behalf, in accordance with their privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
Payment data
When you subscribe to BuildSorted, payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. BuildSorted does not store your payment card details. We receive confirmation of your subscription status only. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/gb/privacy.
Usage data
We may collect basic, anonymised usage information to understand how BuildSorted is used and to improve the service. This does not identify individual users.
Legal Basis for Processing
- Contract performance — processing necessary to provide the BuildSorted service you have subscribed to
- Legitimate interests — processing necessary to operate, maintain and improve BuildSorted, where this does not override your rights
- Legal obligation — where we are required to process data by law
How Long We Keep Your Data
- Account information — retained for as long as your account is active, and for up to 30 days after account deletion to allow for recovery requests.
- Document generation data — not retained by BuildSorted after your document is generated.
- Payment records — retained for 7 years as required by HMRC for tax purposes.
Who We Share Your Data With
We share data with the following third parties only as necessary to provide the BuildSorted service:
- Anthropic PBC — AI model provider, for document generation
- Stripe, Inc. — payment processor
- Render Inc. — web hosting and database provider
- Resend Inc. — transactional email provider
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers or any other third parties.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data. You also have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Cookies and Local Storage
BuildSorted uses essential cookies and browser storage for authentication and basic functionality only. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We do not track you across other websites.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including secure password hashing and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify subscribers of material changes by email. The current version will always be available at buildsorted.co.uk/privacy.
Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
